Electrical Engineering and Electronics Manufacturing Careers

Electrical engineering and electronics manufacturing work may involve design, production and maintenance of electrical or electronics systems, equipment or components. This could include; systems that produce or distribute electricity, equipment that uses electricity, electronics equipment or components such as radios, televisions, computers, washing machines, or telecommunications systems.
Assembler (Electric and Electronic Goods)
Electric and electronic goods assemblers join parts and wires together to make electrical products, such as switchboards, light switches and heaters, and/or electronic equipment such as car audio systems and telecommunications systems.
Electric Cable Jointer
Electric cable jointers join and test power cables.
Electrical Appliance Serviceperson
Electrical appliance service people install, repair and maintain household and commercial electrical appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves and washing machines.
Electrical Engineer
Electrical engineers specify, design and supervise the construction or manufacture of systems and equipment that produce, distribute and/or use electricity. They also maintain, operate and manage these systems and equipment.
Electrical Engineering Technician
Electrical engineering technicians interpret designs and technical instructions from an electrical engineer and ensure that they are accurately implemented. They also develop, install, test and maintain equipment that produces, transmits or uses power.
Electrical Fitter
Electrical fitters install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and electrical equipment in power stations, substations and other sites.
Electrician
Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and equipment.
Electronics Engineer
Electronics engineers study, design and oversee production of electronic equipment such as radios, televisions, computers, washing machines and telecommunication systems. They may also service equipment.
Electronics Serviceperson
Electronics service people service, maintain, test, operate and assist with the production of electronic systems and equipment such as televisions, microwave ovens and telecommunication systems.
Electronics Technician
Electronics technicians service, maintain, test, operate and assist with the production of electronic systems and equipment such as televisions, microwave ovens and telecommunication systems.
Fax and Photocopier Technician
Fax and photocopier technicians install, maintain and repair electronic office equipment such as faxes, photocopiers and printers. They may service a range of equipment or specialise in one product.
Industrial Measurement and Control Technician
Industrial measurement and control technicians install, maintain and repair equipment used to measure and control production processes. They may work in a range of industries including food processing, pulp and paper processing, brewing, petrochemical industries and power generation.
Line Mechanic
Line mechanics install, repair and maintain overhead and underground lines.
Production Manager
Production managers organise and control the production of goods in a factory. They ensure that products are made to customers' specifications and delivered on time.
Production Planner
Production planners plan timetables and organise materials to ensure the smooth running of a factory.
Security Systems Technician
Security systems technicians install and maintain security systems.
Technical Manager
Technical managers are responsible for the quality and performance of equipment, projects, products and technology in their workplace.
