Doctors Careers

Doctors work to prevent, diagnose and treat disease, and physical or mental illness. They may also do research, teach or work in medical management roles.
Anaesthetist
Anaesthetists administer different forms of anaesthetics to make patients unaware and free of pain during and after surgical procedures.
Diagnostic Radiologist
Diagnostic radiologists diagnose diseases of the human body using x-rays; ultrasound; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); computed tomography (CT), which gives cross sections of internal body parts; and nuclear medicine, the injection and tracking of radioactive solution in the body.
General Practitioner
General practitioners diagnose and treat the health problems of individuals and families in the community. They are also involved in screening at-risk groups for diseases such as cervical cancer and diabetes.
Gynaecologist/Obstetrician
Gynaecologists/obstetricians give specialised medical treatment and advice related to the female reproductive system, and care for women during pregnancy and childbirth. Their work often involves caring for women who have difficult or complicated pregnancies, or reproductive system health issues.
Oncologist
Oncologists diagnose, treat and care for patients with cancer.
Paediatrician
Paediatricians diagnose and provide treatment for babies, infants, children and adolescents who have medical problems or are not developing properly. They are also experts in normal child growth, development, feeding and behavioural issues.
Pathologist
Pathologists are doctors who study human diseases and conditions, the effects of diseases and injury on the body, and the effects of treatment.
Physician
Physicians are medical specialists who provide non-surgical treatment and advice to patients referred to them by other doctors.
Psychiatrist
Psychiatrists assess and provide treatment for people with mental, emotional and behavioural disorders. They also study how the brain and nervous systems function and how these interact with people's environments and affect the way people think, feel and behave.
Surgeon
Surgeons consult with patients and operate on people to treat and manage some disease and injuries.
