Work in logistics, trade and warehousing includes the buying, selling, distribution and storage of goods nationally and internationally.
- Buyer
- Buyers purchase goods to sell in warehouses, shops or department stores.
- Customs Broker
- Customs brokers advise on and arrange the movement of goods into and out of New Zealand for businesses, individuals and organisations.
- Export Agent
- Export agents help and/or organise the day-to-day running of a business that sell goods to other countries.
- Exporter
- Exporters organise and control the export and shipping activities of a business, and provide information for export operations.
- Fork-Lift Operator
- Fork-lift operators operate vehicles that have a lifting platform for shifting and stacking heavy articles such as pallets (portable platforms used for storing and moving cargo), bales, crates, containers or cartons.
- Freight Forwarder
- Freight forwarders deal with arranging the national and international movement of goods. They find the most appropriate and cost-effective way of moving goods, and co-ordinate and keep records of the arrangements.
- Heavy Truck Driver
- Heavy truck drivers drive trucks with or without trailers. They transport materials, livestock, machinery, liquids, general freight, and sometimes hazardous substances.
- Importer
- Importers find and buy goods made overseas to sell to local wholesalers, retailers and manufacturers. They may specialise in one particular product.
- Stevedore
- Stevedores operate a variety of heavy machinery to load, unload, tally and stow the cargo of a ship.
- Storeperson
- Storepeople receive, check, store and send out goods from a business or other organisation.
- Warehouse Worker
- Warehouse workers receive, check, store and send out goods from a warehouse.
- Warehouse/Packhouse Manager
- Warehouse and packhouse managers organise the receiving, storing and sending out of goods to businesses and other organisations. Packhouse managers also ensure crops are sorted by size and quality.
