Using percentages for GST calculations

The letters GST stand for Goods and Service Tax, which is a tax, added on to the price of lots of the things that you can buy.

Most shops include GST in their prices, so that the price you see on the label is all of what you pay to buy it. Other shops and services do not include it in their price so you have to calculate the GST and then add it on to get the final price you have to pay.

The current rate of GST is 12.5%.
