Numbers
In this section we have a look at numbers – Integers, Even and Odd numbers, Decimal Places, Prime Numbers, Rounding Numbers, Cardinal, Ordinal, Nominal Numbers, and Roman Numerals.
- Integers
- Integers include positive whole numbers, negative whole numbers, and zero.
- Even and Odd Numbers
- Even numbers are numbers that can be divided evenly by 2. Even numbers can be shown as a set like this:
- Decimal Places
- One decimal place to the left of the decimal point is the ones place. One decimal place to the right of the decimal place is the tenths place.
- Prime Numbers
- A prime number can be divided, without a remainder, only by itself and by 1. For example, 17 can be divided only by 17 and by 1.
- Rounding Numbers
- A rounded number has about the same value as the number you start with, but it is less exact.
- Cardinal, Ordinal, and Nominal Numbers
- A cardinal number tells "how many." Cardinal numbers are also known as "counting numbers," because they show quantity.
- Roman Numerals
- Roman numerals are expressed by letters of the alphabet:
