Week

A unit used to measure time; 1 week = 7 days.

Whole Number

Any of the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on.

Whole Unit

A whole standard quantity or amount. Example: Meter.

Width

Width is a distance value that is lateral (side to side).You might have a height of two meters, but you also have a width of .5 meters. Length, width, and height are terms used to describe two-dimensional objects. Depth is a term applied to three-dimensional objects.

Written Symbol

A sign used to represent something such as an operation ( +, –, *, /) relationship (=, neq, <, >) or quantity ("Pi").

X-Axis

The horizontal axis; the line whose equation is y = 0.

X-Intercept

The point when a graph of an equation crosses the x-axis.

Yard

A customary unit used to measure length; 1 yard = 3 feet. The abbreviation for yard is "yd."

Y-Axis

The vertical axis; the line whose equation is x = 0.

Year

The time it takes the Earth to make a complete revolution around the sun; since it takes 365 and 1/4 days, most years have 365 days, with an extra day added every four years (this year is referred to as a leap year).

Y-Intercept

The point when a graph of an equation crosses the y-axis.

Zero

The number which indicates no quantity, size, or magnitude; zero is neither negative nor positive; zero is the additive identity.

Zero Property of Addition

The property that states that the sum of a number and zero is that same number (i.e., a + 0 = a for all a)

Zero Property of Multiplication

The property that explains how the product of any number and zero is zero. Example: 8x0=0.

Zeros of a Function

Zeros of a function are the points at which the value of a function is zero.
