Car Park Attendant
Tasks & duties

Car park attendants may do some or all of the following:

answer customers' enquiries

accept money and give change
-
issue the correct tickets
-
direct drivers to a parking space

check to make sure all vehicles have a parking ticket

keep an eye on the cars and the parking area

make security checks on vehicles
-
collect rubbish and keep the area clean
-
do the banking and keep reports of tickets issued
-
carry out parking warden duties
Skills & knowledge
Car park attendants need to have:

basic maths and money-handling skills
-
good communication skills
-
driving skills
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements to become a car park attendant, although a driver's licence is preferred if working for a hotel. Some employers may also require you to pass a test to assess your basic maths and customer service skills.
Secondary education
There are no specific secondary educational requirements to become a car park attendant, but maths is useful for counting cash.
Training on the job
Skills are gained on the job.
Useful experience
Experience in handling money or work involving public contact and customer service may be useful for car park attendants.
